Student Laptop Program
The National Secondary School Computer Fund (NSSCF) is the major funding element of the Australian Government's Digital Education Revolution (DER). It is assisting with the provision of new computers and other information and communication technologies (ICT) equipment for students in Years 9 to 12.
The aim of the NSSCF was to achieve a computer to student ratio of 1-to-1 for students in Years 9 to 12 by 31 December 2011. The Queensland Department of Education, Training and Employment worked in partnership with the Australian Government to achieve this target.
As a result, students at Smithfield State High School in years 9 and 10 have been provided with ACER Laptop Computers offering them 24/7 network or 3G connectivity. The following pages offer important information on caring for these computers as well as, in the evnt of an accident, instructions for organising the repair of the laptop.
