![]() Development company Satterley is currently releasing one of the Northern Beaches' newest communities, Smithfield Village. A partnership between Smithfield SHS and Smithfield Village has seen the entire senior school provided with new sporting kits. The school bands and performers will also have opportunities to participate in community events, thereby enriching their overall educational experiences.

Smithfield SHS has forged a partnership with Cairns company, The CEC Group. This partnership will provide expertise, guidance and resources to the school as part of a plan to redevelop the school grounds and provide sufficient seating for students. An element of the partnership will see CEC tradesmen instructing Smithfield SHS students in metal fabrication and welding as well as the installation of commercial grade seating.
HP Mobile Roll Call Smithfield State High School has combined with Hewlett Packard (HP) to develop an electronic attendance monitoring system – MobileRollCall. This has resulted in an increased level of efficiency and automation for school attendance management tasks and teacher administration through the use of a hand-held mobile device, a PDA. This new technology can monitor attendance and report truancy in real time enabling our school to focus our human resources on improving student outcomes.Computers for Teachers In 2006, Smithfield State High School, along with 60 other Queensland State school, was chosen as a 'Computers for Teachers' trial school. Laptop computers were deployed to all school teaching staff. Staff provided regular feedback to the Queensland Government. The trial proved to be a resounding success at Smithfield as well as all of the other trial schools and has led to the government allocating funding to provide all Queensland State School Teachers with a laptop by the end of 2008.F1inSchools Technology Hub
![]() Through the F1 programme, students gain a generic understanding of the manufacturing cycle of a Formula 1 car. The steps in the process range from conceptualisation of ideas to the design phase, analysis then manufacture and testing of the product and finally the proof of the design. This programme prepares students for professional futures in a range of manufacturing, engineering and IT fields.
NEC Smithfield State High School’s own Community Radio Station 101.9 Coast FM is a student-run radio station. Our radio station runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It offers our senior students the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in radio broadcasting and production and provide a Certificate II through the Australian Film Television and RadioSchool. Cairns Tropical Zoo maintains a colony of Koalas. Due to their special diet of a variety of leafy tips from Eucalypt species, they have developed a working partnership with Smithfield SHS to develop a crop of Eucalypt trees in the school grounds. This opportunity provides practical learning opportunities for our agricultural science students in tree planting, installation and maintenance of an irrigation system, fertiliser regimes, weed control, tree maintenance and capital animal maintenance.
