Smithfield State High School's curriculum is an inclusive and extensive range of learning experiences providing opportunities for students to achieve personal success. It is designed to allow students to become active and informed citizens in a global society.

The curriculum structure at Smithfield is broadly divided into two areas: -

Junior School Outline
The junior curriculum gives all students exposure to the essential learnings as outlined in each of Education Queensland’s eight Key Learning Areas (link).

Senior School
The three years of the Senior Phase of Learning allow students to build on pre-requisite knowledge and skills attained in the junior school, so that they can successfully transition to life after school.
Our senior curriculum provides a range of pathways allowing access to university studies, other tertiary studies or jobs/careers.
Key features of our senior curriculum are:-
Year 10
Year 10 is a vital educational year for young people. It is the final year of compulsory attendance at school and begins the 3 year Senior Phase of Learning.
