SSHS has is developing a shared vision for learning and teaching. The Dimensions of Learning has been adopted as a learning and teaching framework whose purpose is to both enhance learning for all students and improve teaching.

Dimensions of Learning applies what researchers and theorists know about learning and the brain. Essential to successful learning are five types of thinking – called the dimensions of learning.

At SSHS the Dimensions of Learning will underpin the curriculum, pedagogy and assessment programs at SSHS. It will provide the staff, students and parents with a common vocabulary and shared understanding of the learning process.

The use of ICT’s is an integral aspect of learning and teaching at SSHS. Increasing use of technology is being made in student access of information, acquisition of knowledge and application of knowledge.

Dimensions of Learning aims to provide students with the skills, strategies and processes for "life-long" learning.

Dimension 1 - Positive Attitudes and Perceptions
Dimension 2 - Acquiring and Integrating Knowledge
Dimension 3 - Extending and Refining Knowledge
Dimension 4 - Using Knowledge Meaningfully
Dimension 5 - Productive Habits of Mind
