Overview:
Industrial Technology and Design is concerned with the interrelationships of people and materials and the inherent dynamic influences of design. They introduce practical oriented learning experiences, involve practical applications of mathematical and scientific principles in the everyday needs of people and provide a grounding for life in a technological age.
INTAD encourages students to design and construct using natural and synthetic materials, to explore the generation and conservation of energy, and to produce electronic and mechanical systems.

Subject Offerings:
Junior Subjects:
Graphics - using 3D modelling packages (Inventor and Revit) as well 2D AutoCad.
Product Design and Manufacture using hand and computer controlled manufacturing.
Industrial Systems and Control involving electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Industrial Skills Programme linked to industry for work experience.
Senior Subjects:
Graphics (O.P. subject)
Technology Studies (O.P. subject)
Certificate I in Furnishings and Certificate I in Engineering (pre-apprenticeship courses).


Special Features:
Smithfield State High School has been selected as one of fourteen schools in Queensland to participate in the Manufacturing and Engineering Gateway Schools to Industry Project. It is a collaborative initiative between the Queensland Government and Manufacturing Skills Queensland. As a school, and especially within INTAD, we will be linking closely with industry to enable students to visit and work alongside tradespeople.
