School Chaplain

The main responsibilities of the chaplain are:

  • engaging with and contributing to the delivery of Human rights education/wellbeing programs at Smithfield State High School.
  • pastoral conversations with students- staff or student initiated or after critical incidents
  • home visits for students - hospital visitation, bereavement, school refusal
  • student mediations
  • General promotion of positive school culture
  • to support students with a faith background through pastoral conversations (with parental consent)
  • Facilitating RE program
  • working in partnership with the school based support staff (EASTeam)and community based youth organisations and networks
  • attendance and support at camps, excursions, leadership days, activities etc.
